Summer is conventionally the time for catching up on reading and, despite macro-economic and geo-political turmoil, we very much hope that business leaders will get some time to relax and reflect.
To that end, in time honoured tradition, Fidelio has drawn up a list of top 5 favourites from our Overtures over the first half of 2022.
Reflecting Fidelio’s focus on Building Better Boards, all our Overtures reflect key themes that we are seeing on the Board agenda. There is, however, surprising variety among the five most widely-read Overtures in the first half of the year.
A governance case study on the US corporate failure, Theranos, tops the list. Other favourites include a topical analysis of ESG in the light of the Ukraine War with implications for Boards internationally; an update on Audit Reform in the UK; and, also of global significance, a review of how investor scrutiny is driving Board oversight and engagement on the path to Net Zero.
Last but absolutely not least our Summer-reading list includes a ground-breaking look at Neurodiversity, barely on the Board radar screen, but arguably a major piece of the “S” or social puzzle that is in danger of being overlooked with implications for employee well-being, risk and missed opportunity.
